The 22 finalists for this year’s Miss Blackpool competition are all ready for the main event – Sunday’s grand final, which takes place at the Paradise Room, at Blackpool’s Pleasure Beach.

They spent time this weekend rehearsing and putting the finishing touches to the night’s dance routines and catwalk show, which will be performed in front of a live audience, their family, friends and supporters.

There will be an opening scene and then the girls, aged up to 30, will battle it out to impress the judges with a beachwear round, T-shirt fashion round – sponsored by Panache, natural drink infusion and an evening wear round.

The glamorous black-tie evening will be compered by Ian Tolley and Miss Blackpool 2011 Hollie Robinson.

Miss Blackpool is the longest-running seaside pageant in the UK.

Organiser Karen Jean Cookson, of Blackpool-based Angels Elite Modelling, said: “It’s a big part of Blackpool’s history now and is always such a popular event.

“We are really looking forward to the night.

“The rehearsals were fantastic, all the finalists are great girls, and for some of them it’s their first pageant experience.

“They are all excited and a little bit nervous.

“The final will be a wonderful evening, we have entertainment, two fantastic comperes and of course, the catwalk show.

“So many of the girls who have taken part in the past have gone on to do well in other events or modelling. All past winners have gone on to model for Angels Elite Models.

“And so many of them say how it has boosted their confidence, just taking part in Miss Blackpool, which is lovely to hear.”

Show-only tickets, for the event itself are available for £15 from Angels Elite on (01253) 820226 or 07860451878.
