Callum Howarth, 25, from Marton, has raised more than £1,000 for the hospital after shaving his head and flipping a digger tyre round the resort’s biggest park.

Callum, said: “My first challenge was to shave my head and I raised £320 but I wanted to go to an extreme level and that is where I came up with the idea of flipping a tyre around the whole outside of Stanley Park.”

He set off from outside Blackpool Model Village on East Park Drive on Thursday and went along West Park Drive and North Park drive to complete a whole lap of the park, nearly two and half miles, and it took him just short of four hours.

Callum said: “I actually wanted to go around two or three times but I didn’t think it would take nearly four hours to do.

“I also did it in my training belt with weights on but I had to take it off near the hospital as it was getting too much.”

Callum was inspired to do the fundraising while self-isolating, wanting to help the hospital near his house.

He said: “During this difficult time for everybody around the whole world we have to salute and credit the people who are still out working what provide us with our essential needs.

“But the main people are the doctors and nurses at hospitals around the world who are giving everything and putting themselves on the front line during this tough time.

“I have only bee asking for just a small donation to help raise money to put towards supplies and equipment for all staff at Blackpool Victoria Hospital.”
