Lytham man 'who hadn't eaten for days' has care package donated to him by Sainsbury's staff

Staff from the St Annes Sainsbury's store organised a care package for a man who "desperately needed help."

Police dealt with a vulnerable man who hadn't eaten for days yesterday (May 19).

His fridge and cupboards were empty but the man had no way of contacting anyone to ask for the help he desperately needed.

An emergency visit from Social services was arranged by officers, but before it could take place the St Annes Sainsbury's store in St Andrew's Road North donated a care package to him with essential goods.

A kind-hearted member of staff also voluntary handed over £5 to make sure the man could top up his electricity meter which was running low.

A spokesperson for Fylde Police said: We just want to say a massive thank you to Sainsbury's for the kindness and generosity they have shown during this difficult time.

"Please look out for your most vulnerable neighbours who may be struggling more than usual."
