Litter pickers observe a minute's silence for teenage brothers who drowned at sea in St Annes

The 'Tossers in Lytham St Annes' had gathered to help clean the beach and promenade at St Annes but took time out to pay their respects to Muhammad Azhar Shabbir, 18, and Ali Athar Shabbir, 16, from Dewsbury, whose bodies were recovered from the water last on Sunday.

The group heard a reflection on life, read by Tracey Hope, and observed a minute's silence for the brothers. They also sent thoughts to the lads’ family.

The boys’ bodies was made by the Coastguard and RNLI volunteers just after 3.15pm, around a mile away from where the boys had last been seen the previous evening.

A 15-year-old boy managed to swim to shore before being taken to hospital for treatment.

The victims’ initial disappearance sparked a lengthy and major search and rescue mission.
