Lifeboat called out over missing child alert in Blackpool

Blackpool RNLI were called out this afternoon when a child was reported missing near Central Pier.

The crew received the call at at 1.40pm and quickly mobilised ready for a potential rescue mission.

Fortunately the child was found as the lifeboat crew were preparing for launch.

The resort's volunteers are urging people to stay safe and not take any risks over this weekend.

The service was praised on social media for its fast response to a potential emergency.
