That’s the challenge being set by North Shore mum Leanne Woodall and her coursemates from the degree in event and hospitality management at Blackpool And The Fylde College.

As part of their course, they are organising events in teams to raise money for Trinity Hospice and Brian House Children’s Hospice, in Bispham.

Leanne and her team have set up an event entitled Escape From Blackpool.

The charity challenges asks individuals or teams of up to four to get as far away from Blackpool as possible with spending any money.

There will be awards for the furthest travelled, highest point reached wackiest form of transport, unique places travelled and the best costume. Competitors will start off from Stanley Park, on Saturday, April 28, at 9am, and have 12 hours to complete the task.

Leanne – who is no stranger to fund-raising as she frequently helps her daughters with charity events and challenges – said: “We just thought it would be something different and fun, which lots of people could get involved in and if it’s a success, we could even perhaps make it an annual thing.

“Basically, people could get sponsored by a business or by friends and family, they could use donated travel tickets, borrowed cars, donated bikes, horses, whatever to escape.

“But they can’t break the law and they cannot spend any money doing it.

“We’ve got lots of categories for prizes so if families are taking part and perhaps might not be able to travel very far, they could still win a prize – for example, for fancy dress.

“Really it’s down to people’s imaginations of how far they can get in 12 hours! People will need to think outside the box.

“We have had a fantastic prize of a Variety Mega Yacht cruise anywhere in the world donated, so we will be having a draw for that.

“We are looking for as many people as possible to take part. Brian House and Trinity are such good causes.”
