And the teenager is now through to the final of a national competition which will see her perform at Andrew Lloyd Webber’s newest West End theatre, the Other Palace.

Kassidy has already made it through two round of auditions for West End Calling – including performing in Manchester to a sold-out audience, and at the Stockwell Playhouse in London in the semi-final.

She sang Maybe I Like It This Way from the musical Wild Party and was one of only 12 contestants – all aged between eight and 21 – to be hand-picked by the judges, all West End stars.

The judging panel is made up of Scott Paige – who has performed in Made In Dagenham, Eugenius and The Addams Family, Daniel Buckley – of The Book Of Mormon, Eugenius and Loserville and Emily Tierney – Wicked, The Wizard Of Oz, Ghost The Musical.

West End Calling is a nationwide musical theatre singing competition for young performers, which gives them the chance to audition and receive feedback from a variety of West End stars.

There will be a junior final – aged nine to 15 and senior, aged 16 to 21, and the finalists will perform at the Other Palace, in front of an audience made up of industry professionals, agents, casting directors and the public, on May 27.

Kassidy said she was delighted to have reached the national final and revealed the process of the auditions had been helpful.

Kassidy said: “I am extremely grateful to have earned a place in the final, I am both excited and nervous, as it such a big competition and a massive song.

“Everyone has heaps of talent and they all deserve to win.

“I love that West End professionals are there to give you critique and comment from the word go!

“This enables you to better yourself for future performances, and that is what makes West End Calling unique.”

Among the prizes finalists could win are photoshoots, workshops with West End stars, tickets to West End shows and theatre school experiences.
