Discount retailer Aldi is recruiting for around 386 store positions across Lancashire as part of a significant employment drive.

The new jobs will support the retailer’s continued expansion in the area throughout 2015.

Aldi is trying to fill a range of roles at its stores in Blackpool, Preston, Blackburn, Bolton, Chorley, Garstang, Great Harwood, Hindley Green, Horwich, Kirkham, Leigh, and Leyland.

The company says candidates with proven management experience are being targeted for its managerial roles.

Ruth Doyle, Aldi regional managing director, said: “Aldi has seen significant growth in Lancashire over the last few years, which has put us in a position to recruit a substantial number of people in the local area.

“We’re looking to attract applicants from a diverse range of backgrounds, including supermarket, fast-food and clothing chains, who can demonstrate relevant retail experience, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.”

As well as experienced staff, the fast-growing discount retailer is taking on a number of apprentices.

Aldi store apprentices are trained in all aspects of retail management during their three-year course.

The scheme offers store assistant training in year one and store management training in years two and three with a g salary of £5.30 per hour rising to £7.63 per hour.

Successful apprentices will be offered a deputy manager position upon completion of the course, and can progress onto assistant store manager.
