The force are leading the way in the North West by announcing the launch of a new recruitment entry pathway to become a detective, the first of its kind.

The new ‘Detective Entry Programme’ means that within two years of entering the police force, the successful applicants will become Trainee Detectives investigating some of the most serious crimes across the county.

Under the new programme, Lancashire Constabulary are looking to recruit 75 new detectives to the force who will be spread out across the county.

Initially joining as student police officers, successful applicants will complete a structured development programme which will enable progression to the role of Detective Constable.

Assistant Chief Constable Joanne Edwards said: “With a number of planned recruitment initiatives to join Lancashire Constabulary over the next three years this is an exciting opportunity for growth at Lancashire Constabulary.

“The aim of the Detective Entry Programme is to attract talented individuals who may not have considered a career as a police officer, but could have the skills needed to become an excellent investigator”.
