Wyre Council has outlined how services will be affected by the new lockdown restrictions

Wyre Council says the restrictions will apply for four weeks up to Wednesday December 2 from today, replacing the Tier 3 restrictions in place for Lancashire.

Residents are being told they must stay at home except for specific reasons including education; work where working from home is not possible; exercise or recreation outdoors on their own, with their household or with one other person

Other exemptions are medical reasons or appointments and to escape injury or harm; to shop for food and essentials; provide care for vulnerable people, or as a volunteer; to provide childcare.

Single adult households will still be able to form exclusive support bubbles with one other household and children will still be able to move between homes if their parents are separated.

During this time some of Wyre Council’s services will change or will be required to close, including leisure amenities.

Coun David Henderson, leader of Wyre Council, said: “We understand how difficult these new restrictions are for our residents, particularly after being under tighter restrictions for some time now.

"I do however see this as a real opportunity for us to make a difference and turn the infection rates around. It’s so important that we all pull together and stick to the rules - it’s the only way to ensure they are effective.

“I want to thank residents and businesses for their efforts to date. Please be assured that our officers are doing everything they can to continue to make grant payments to eligible businesses during this difficult time. We are also here for our vulnerable residents who still need our support."
