Caring fund-raisers are set to take to the pool in a bid to step up their efforts to save lives this Saturday.
After generating thousands of pounds over almost three decades, Fleetwood and Cleveleys Lions’ latest swimarathon will benefit the Special Baby Care Unit at Blackpool Victoria Hospital – with the aim of helping to save more young lives.
The event takes place at Fleetwood’s YMCA Leisure Centre pool, from 10am to 1pm.
Stuart Gratrix, one of the key organisers, said: “Apart from being a fun event, the Swimarathon has raised thousands of pounds for good causes over the years, and hopefully this year’s event will be no exception.”
The Lions are looking for teams to take part in the event.
Last year saw 11 teams, and 66 swimmers, turn out to boost charity Alzheimer’s Support.
Almost £1,500 was raised from the event, which is now in its 34th year.
This year, a dozen teams have signed up for the event.
Stuart added: “We are supposed to have teams of six, but we could have a team of one or of eight, everyone is welcome.”
There’s still time for people to get involved.
