George McLaughlin, 23, was cycling on Broadway when he was involved in a collision with a Ford Transit Tipper shortly before 4pm on Thursday, August 22.

An air ambulance, land ambulance and a rapid response vehicle were sent to the scene alongside police and Mr McLaughlin was taken to Royal Preston Hospital in a "critical condition".

In a statement posted on Facebook, a spokesman for the Five-0 said: "George is so passionate about our town and puts his heart and soul into everything he does so it's only right we do the same and help him as much as we can.

"It's been amazing watching a town come together like it has for George, and we will do anything we can to help."

Consisting of four 6oz patties, four american cheese, rib meat, chicken gyro meat, baconnaise and the Five-0's special hot sauce - which is said to be extremely spicy - this challenge is not for the faint of heart.

Those who wish to test their stomachs have just 30 minutes to eat the mountain of meat and cheese, including the chips, and are required to sign a disclaimer beforehand.

Contestants who manage to succeed in finishing the burger, aptly named the 'big hot double dosser', will receive their £20 back and have their picture put up somewhere in the bar area.

Others who are not so successful won't get their money back, but instead £10 of the proceedings will go towards George’s recovery.

There will also be a donation box at the bar for anyone who would like to contribute to the fundraiser, but does not fancy taking on the belly busting burger.

"This is a massive burger and it’s really HOT, I personally do not think it is possible," the spokesman added.

The challenge will run everyday until Sunday, September 13.

Anyone who wishes to take part has been requested to book a table in advance if possible, but walk-ins will also be accepted.

So far eight people have taken on the mega burger but all of them have failed. Do you reckon you have what it takes?

You can find the restaurant at 125-131 Lord Street, Fleetwood , FY7 6LH, or visit their website HERE.
