Cooking up sweet success

Although technically still a teenager, Georgia knew exactly where she was heading and saved up her own money from a cleaning job to pay for kitting out her stunning new shop – Creative Cupcakes in Mount Street, Fleetwood.

Just a few short weeks ago, she was finishing off studying for qualifications in psychology and sociology at college, but now her studies are over, she is concentrating on getting her business off the ground.

Self-taught, Georgia has always enjoyed baking from being a little girl.

She said: “I’ve always enjoyed baking, I used to bake at Easter with my little sister Layla and so I decided to teach myself how to do it and to decorate cakes too.

“I’ve watched lots of videos and practised the techniques and I knew when I finished college that it was what I wanted to do.”

Georgia was so determined – and knew she would have to get some money in the bank to start her new venture – that she took on a cleaning job, in between her studies and has saved up every penny to pay to get the business up and running.

The result is a very chic and pretty shop, with a beautiful kitchen work space and display areas to show off her work.

She makes fresh cupcakes daily to sell in the shop and specialises in different flavours too.

Her celebration cakes include wedding cakes and children’s novelty cakes.

“It’s been busy since we opened on Monday.

“Hopefully, in the future I would like to expand to include a tea room too,” she said.

Georgia, of Silvia Way, is on-hand six days a week at the Mount Street shop, to talk to about cake design and ideas.
