The North Yorkshire based Brownies, Guides and their leaders chose the iconic tower to celebrate World Thinking Day.

A convoy of six coaches carried the girls from York, Selby, Tadcaster and the surrounding villages to Blackpool where they enjoyed a wide range of activities.

These included a visit to the Sea Life Centre, Madame Tussauds and the 4D Cinema Experience at the tower, as well as a trip to the beach.

The group were also honoured to receive a visit from the UK assistant chief guide Emma Guthrie as part of the Chief Guides’ tour of the UK.

North Yorkshire South County Commissioner and leader of 3rd Copmanthorpe Brownies, Lesley Strathie MBE, said: “It has been an exciting few months leading up to this event as the girls are big fans of Strictly Come Dancing and for many this was the first time they had ever been in a ballroom, let alone danced and slept in one.

“We’re delighted with how well it went and to be joined by Emma Guthrie.

“In addition to our dancing activities within the venue it was great to be able to explore Blackpool’s fantastic array of attractions.

A Brownie called Olivia from 3rd Copmanthorpe Brownies added: “Going to Blackpool and having a sleepover was really great. I loved sleeping on the Strictly Come Dancing dance floor with all the other girls.”
