The Friends of East Pines Park group in Anchorsholme recently received a £400 grant from Warburtons on Amy Johnson Way.

The group's charity trustees decided to use the grant money to celebrate the hard work of key workers in Little Bispham, Thornton, Cleveleys and Anchorsholme during the Covid-19 pandemic, by creating 'thank you' bags for them.

The bags are intended as a token of appreciation for all key workers, from NHS to retail staff, and contain a thank you card, edible treats and a knitted bee.

Coun Paul Galley, chairman of the Friends of East Pines Park, said: "The pocket sized knitted bees are designed to be a companion for any key worker, giving them reassuring hugs whenever they go through a tough moment.

“Our park has never just been about the park itself, but crucially it’s relationship with the wider community.

Yes, it is offering people a relaxing space in a mad world, but as trustees we wanted it to go further and create something special for all those people who are out there working selflessly to help our community."

You can nominate a key worker who lives in the FY5 area for a thank you bag by emailing Paul Galley at [email protected].
