Blackpool dancer is set to compete as part of Team England

For Blackpool dancer Lily Rose Martindale the whole world will soon be a stage as she competes as part of Team England.

The eight-year-old from South Shore, Blackpool will be travelling to Portugal this April for the dance world championships.

And the event, which takes place over six days between April 3 and 8 will include some of the best dancers competing from all over the world.

Lily Rose has won her place at the world’s finals competing her acro solo having had to audition and compete to gain her space at this prestigious event.

She will perform in front of a large audience and highly acclaimed judges from nine different countries - USA, Hungary, Netherlands, UK, Slovenia, South Africa, Bulgaria, Ukraine and Canada.

Lily Rose is so excited to be able to represent team England and has been working hard to perfect her routine.

She trains four nights a week at Cats with Red Shoes on Highfield Road in South Shore Blackpool and she is looking forward to performing on an international stage and taking part in the opening ceremony.

She will also enjoy master classes that are on offer, along with meeting dancers from all different countries to make new friends and a little sightseeing in Portugal.

Lily Rose’s routine Hall of Fame was choreographed by principal and teacher Hayley Dancy.

She says “Here at the Academy we could not be prouder of our always smiling and hard-working Lily.

“She will try any skill that we give her and will always work on them till she has mastered it to perfection.

“All her friends at the Academy are looking forward to watching and cheering for her on live stream, it will be such a great experience.

“Lily Rose has a very supportive mum Stacey and dad Gareth that are always on hand to help her practice at home, they watch through video footage taken in Lily Rose’s classes to help her memorize routines.”

Lily Rose started her dance training when she was just three years old at Cats with Red Shoes and she’s a very dedicated young lady attending classes in ballet, tap, modern, acro, rhythmic gymnastics, artistic gymnastics, cheer-leading and freestyle.

She will try any skill that we give her and will always work on them till she has mastered it to perfection, all her friends at the Academy are looking forward to watching and cheering for her on live stream, it will be such a great experience.

This variety of lessons has really made an all round performer.”

Lily Rose is currently the youngest member of the elite show team. She also performs in Junior Show team along side her friends.

Now she will be part of Team England and having her biggest challenge yet to compete on the world stage.
