Blackpool Central Library's History Centre closed due to 'weather damage'

Damage to Blackpool Central Library's roof has forced the History Centre to temporarily close.
The damage, located over the store rooms that house the historic collections, was caused by the recent weather conditions.

Hide AdAll collections at risk of damage were moved to safety and did not suffer water damage after being quickly removed by the Heritage team.
A spokesperson for Blackpool Council said: "The History Centre will be temporary closed due to weather damage.
"Recent conditions have caused damage to the roof of Blackpool Central Library, located over the store rooms that house the historic collections.
"The brilliant Heritage team acted quickly and removed all collections at risk of damage, ensuring none were damaged by the water."

Hide AdBlackpool Council have stated that the History Centre will remain closed while the damage is assessed and repairs are undertaken.
Repair work is anticipated to take around four weeks.
What is the History Centre?
The History Centre is located on the first floor of Blackpool Central Library and is a part of Blackpool Council Heritage Service.
It serves a dual purpose, as a local studies space and as the viewing room for the Council's historic collections.
