Beauty queen takes runner up spot in national contest

Miss Blackpool Galaxy Joanna Johnson was crowned second runner-up in the Miss England Galaxy finals in Chorley this week.

The 23-year-old hairdresser was also the proud winner of the ‘best in evening wear’ category.

Joanna, who lives in Norbreck, was crowned Miss Blackpool Galaxy in August.

She lost out on first prize to Miss Northampton Galaxy, Stefanie Williams.

Speaking after the event, she said: “I am so overwhelmed with coming second runner up and best in evening wear in my first Galaxy pageant out of 50-odd girls.

“It is a system I have wanted to be a part of for a very long time after watching a few times and getting to know the past Galaxy queens and how special their sisterhood is.

“Well done to all the girls that competed last night! I’ve made a lot of friends for life this weekend and want to wish you all good luck in all your futures.

“Thank you to all my friends and family for constantly supporting me and being there for me and giving me some huge cheers.”
