Nina Shaw, who has run Beautique, on Whitegate Drive, Blackpool, for the last seven years, is opening a training academy – to teach people who are, or want to be, beauty therapists.

The House of Haltéres, on Lytham Road, South Shore, will open next month.

And Nina has special plans for the big launch event, taking place on the weekend of June 4 and 5.

The Saturday will be aimed mainly at professionals, with discounts on offer for courses and a chance to find out more.

On the Sunday, there will be a special surprise celebrity guest appearance and treatment discounts will be available for salon bookings.

Both days will include champagne and canapés, as well as the 12 educators from the centre on-hand to talk in-depth about what the training academy offers.

Nina said: “My salon Beautique has really grown and at the moment, I have nine girls working with me.

“I had a baby last October, so have been taking a bit of a backseat at Beautique, with being a mum.

“It has meant I have had the time to get involved in this new project and setting up a new business.

“I’ve got 12 years experience in the beauty industry and I felt training people would be the next natural step.

“I enjoy helping the next generation of beauty therapists, I’ve had six apprentices.

“The name comes from the French word ‘haltéres’ – which means ‘wings’, and the idea is our academy will give people wings for the future.

“The academy will be running fully accredited and insured courses, using some of our own branded professional and retail products.

“We now have our own range of beauty products.

“We have been working hard, putting together a team of highly-skilled educators to teach people in their chosen career.”

Among the courses on offer will be Russian lashes, eyebrow treatments and design, nails, make-up, micro-blading, nail art, spray tanning, and body treatments.

The Russian lash training and educators will be managed by Jodie Turner, from Lytham, known as the “lash lady” – something of a local celebrity in the beauty treatment world.

Nina said: “There is a long list of courses on offer at our training academy – including some new exciting treatments.

“Just one example is our design and refine brow course, which incorporates our own brow rehab growth serum – showing step-by-step design of brows by our leading brow lady.

“We are feeling really excited about it all.”
