After an odds-defying world first in 2019 which saw the 38-year-old swim the Channel, cycle from Calais to Chamonix in France then climb to the top of Mont Blanc, all in five days, Andrea is aiming to take on an even bigger challenge in a bid to raise awareness for endometriosis, which effects one in 10 women in the UK.

The ‘Sea to Summit Extreme 2020 – Lakes Edition’ challenge will take place between 17-21 2020 starting at Lake Bala in Wales and finishing on the peak of Ben Nevis in Scotland, whilst traversing all three countries along the way.

After swimming the 7km long Lake Balain Wales, Andrea will then cycle 50km to Snowdon before running up and down Snowdon peak (1,085m high).

She will then cycle a massive 300km over the Welsh/English border to Windermere, swim Lake Windermere (18km), cycle 15km to Scafell and run the 978m peak of Scafell Pike.

It will then be back on the bike cycling 362km to Scotland and taking on the biggest swim of the challenge, the mighty 41km long Loch Awe.

Following the swim she will cycle 85km to Ben Nevis and run to the peak of Ben Nevis at 1,345m.

No-one has ever attempted this near impossible challenge.

In 2017 Andrea was diagnosed with severe endometriosis and cervical cancer, resulting in major surgery to save her life.

Like many women, it took her years to get an endometriosis diagnosis and after missing several smear tests, she is now on a mission to encourage women to attend or organise their smear tests.

“After so many years of pain followed by major surgery and a cancer diagnosis, educating young women and helping to remove the taboo surrounding women’s health problems is my driving force.

“I want to continue building the Sea to Summit platform to help educate young women and inspire people to ‘create their own epic.

“Sea to Summit in 2019 pushed me to my absolute limits.

“After having surgery less than two years before attempting the challenge, many people doubted that I could swim 34km across the channel, cycle 900km and climb Mont Blanc in less than five days.

“I proved them wrong and Sea to Summit has already successfully raised awareness about the disease.

“I am hoping that Sea to Summit 2020 – The Lakes Edition will help further this work and touch even more people.
