It will be open all year round and its 18 holes feature key Fylde heritage landmarks including Lytham Hall and Windmill, St Annes Pier and Singleton plus some modelled on those to be found at nearby the Royal Lytham and St Annes and St Annes Old Links courses.

The £500,000 project, funded by Fylde Council, has been designed and built by industry experts Greenspan Projects Ltd, with assistance on the build from their approved contractor database local to the project.

It follows the opening of a new adventure play area at the Lake, unveiled earlier this summer, with both designed to complement the ongoing wider Fairhaven National Lottery Heritage Fund Redevelopment project, which was awarded a National Lottery grant of almost £1.5m two years ago.

Charlie Richards, project officer for Fylde Council, said: “It’s tremendous to see the delivery of the first phase of our vision for the restoration of the Lake. I would like to extend our gratitude to Greenspan projects for delivering a fantastic facility. The workmanship on the course is excellent."

Coun Cheryl Little, chairman of Fylde Council’s tourism and leisure committee, said: “I am really delighted to see this contemporary unique facility at Fairhaven Lake – a project so close to my heart.

“I know how well this new golf attraction will be welcomed and appreciated by residents and visitors. It is a credit to everyone involved and the support from the community has been overwhelming.”
