A PENSIONER driver has made his first appearance at court accused of killing an 87-year-old woman pedestrian.

Carlton Terry, 84, of Ferrier Bank, Warton, near Kirkham, is charged with causing the death of Gwennie Dean by careless driving.

The offence is alleged to have taken place when Terry was driving a Nissan Micra along Poulton Street, Kirkham, on August 8 last year.

Defence lawyer, Steven Townley, asked for an adjournment to go through legal papers with his client.

The case against Terry was adjourned to February 14 by District Judge Jeff Brailsford sitting at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court.
