A pub in Kirkham has taken part in a cause to raise money for the Help for Heroes charity.

The Kingfisher, on St George’s Park, contributed £112 to a total of £3,137 raised by regional brewer JW Lees.

The John Willie’s 100 ale was specifically sold to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the day Britain entered the First World War with ten pence from every pint sold donated.

Pub Manager, Deborah Spencer, said: “Guests in our pub always come out to support charities and none more so when supporting Help for Heroes.”

John Willie’s 100 was launched in September 2014 and during the 12 weeks that it was available, there were more than 30,000 pints sold across JW Lees managed houses, including over 1100 sales at the Kingfisher.
