Julie Norman, park ranger said: “This new facility will provide visiting groups with a classroom that opens up on to the park, making it possible to experience the natural environment all year round, whatever the weather.”

The facility, designed by regional firm Pod Living, will include solar panels, an air source heat pump and rainwater harvesting system.

Funding has come from local groups, including the Lytham School Foundation, Lancashire Environment Fund and Fylde Soroptimists.

Jane Pinnock, a trustee of Soroptimist Fylde Ltd, said: “Park View’s passion and enthusiasm translates to fantastic results for everyone who uses the park.

“We love the innovative pod design, and believe it will be perfect for its setting next to the cafe. We look forward to the next stage in this exciting project.”

Park View hope the pod will be completed by this autumn, and will be used by visiting schools, community groups, organisations and families.

David Webb of the Lytham Schools Foundation added: “The foundation is delighted to be able to support this innovative educational project, and is looking forward to following the progress over the coming year.

“This is just one of the many projects the foundation has been able to support, as it carries on the charitable traditions set by its founders more than 300 years ago.”
