Among the car parks offering free spaces are those in St Annes Square, Lytham Green’s junctions with Dicconson Terrace and Bath Street, Lowther Gardens, Pleasant Street and the railway station in Lytham and North Promenade and Fairhaven Road in St Annes.

Coun Albert Pounder, vice-chairman of the Fylde’s operational management committee, said: “We hope it enhances everyone’s Christmas shopping experience.”

Bev Wood, chairman of the St Annes Enterprise Partnership, said: “We have a fantastic range of shops which need our support over the festive period. Anything to help footfall is always welcomed.”
