Parish council chairman David Angel, Fylde councillor John Singleton, and Staining resident Karen Grundy spoke out against the proposed building of seven detached bungalows with associated access road and car parking on Broad Oak Lane.

The Blackpool council planning committee heard a speech in support of the development.

A vote took place and the application was refused.

Coun Singleton said problems with drainage swayed the vote.

He said: “We have been in agreement that this development would not be in the interest of the

local residents in Blackpool or indeed the residents in Staining owing to the drainage problems in the Eddleston Close, the Nook and MacLaren Close areas.”
