Parents of late pupils warned

A Blackpool primary school has issued a warning to parents whose children are ‘persistently late’ to class.

Devonshire Primary Academy, in Devonshire Road, said it could start handing out fines of £60, which rise to £120 if they are unpaid after three weeks.

We appreciate most parents ensure their children arrive on time. Unfortunately, we have a number of persistent lates and governors are now considering penalty notices

It cautioned in a letter to parents: “Our school day starts at 8.55am but we open at 8.45am so children can come in.

“We appreciate most parents ensure their children arrive on time. Unfortunately, we have a number of persistent lates and governors are now considering penalty notices.

“This is not something we want to see happen.”
