Two people were rescued from an upstairs flat fire in Blackpool earlier this afternoon.
The pair were pulled out of the smoke-logged flat, in General Street, by firefighters from Blackpool and South Shore stations at around 2pm.
A neighbour in the same block of flats discovered the blaze and raised the alarm, a spokesman for the Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said.
The cause is being investigated, he added.
He said the fire had ‘burnt out, generating smoke’, and said the flat’s occupants were given first aid at the scene while a fan was used to clear the smoke.
A spokeswoman for the North West Ambulance Service said the pair were taken to hospital for checks.
