IT’S a little cheeky in more ways than one but Blackpool lad Jordan Wylie has hit on a unique way to show his support for under-fire Prince Harry.

Mr Wylie has set up a Facebook page asking British troops worldwide to pose naked after the young Royal was caught on camera in the buff in a Las Vegas hotel room.

And it has provoked a huge response, with more than 12,000 joining a cause which Mr Wylie - a former Collegiate High School pupil - has called Support Prince Harry With a Naked Salute.

The 28-year-old Layton lad, who started the campaign along with his armed-forces mate Lee Kirton, from Blackpool, said: “Basically we did this as a way of supporting Prince Harry.

“I just wanted to get the message across that although he’s a Royal, he is also a hard-working soldier and deep down is simply just one of the lads having fun.”

But even Mr Wylie, who served in the British Army for nine years before leaving to pursue a career in private security, has been a little overwhelmed by the response.

His Facebook idea captured the imagination of troops abroad, who began posting pictures of themselves sans clothes within minutes of the page going online at the weekend.

Mr Wylie, a big Blackpool FC fan, said: “We have 12,000 members, with another 4,000 pending approval and nearly 1,000 pics. It has taken me a bit by surprise but it is great to see such a big response and I think it shows how popular Prince Harry is.”

Mr Wylie’s site isn’t X-rated. All the troops who have posted photos have maintained their dignity by covering any parts too private.

Mr Wylie added: “I’m sure Harry will be quietly smiling about it.”

Prince Harry is expected to make his first public appearance since the scandal broke at the Paralympics.
