A baker who left town leaving a bride without a wedding cake has also left other families stranded and out of pocket.
Abingdon Street Market’s 2 Good 2 Cut stall shut down – and the owner has not been seen since.
Margaret Doyle, from Central Blackpool, has paid £650 for a cake for her daughter’s April wedding.
Alan Ward, of Ormond Avenue, today revealed he’d handed over £35 for a cake for his 60th birthday party.
Mr Ward, who is having his party at Blackpool’s Flying Handbag, said: “She agreed to deliver it to where we were having our party on that particular day, which wasn’t a problem.
“I went down to see her before the party, but no cake appeared on the day.
“We’ve tried to contact her by sending e-mails but there has been no response and her phone’s been off.
“I was absolutely disgusted and it spoiled part of the party for me because it was a lovely afternoon, but I ended up with a small sandwich cake that someone had got from the supermarket.
“If she had contacted me and said, ‘I’m sorry but I can’t do your cake’, then that would have been all right, and we could’ve sorted it, but she has just ran off.”
Margaret Doyle saved £650 for her 19-year-old daughter’s wedding cake and received nothing in return.
They were forced to pay and extra £50 to the wedding venue in Manchester for a replacement and have not heard from the owner since.
The Gazette has made numerous attempts to contact the owner of 2 Good 2 Cut but she was unavailable for comment.
