Organisers hail success of 120th Lytham Club Day

There was a feast of fun for hundreds of visitors with Lytham Hall the venue for the Rose Queen crowning and afternoon festivities for the second year running.

Following the traditional morning procession from Station Road, the Hall section of the day began with a display of vintage cars.

St Bede’s RC High School student Jenny Pope, 14, was crowned as Rose Queen followed by a procession of visiting queens and presentation of the parade trophies.

John Porter, chairman of the organising committee, said: “There was very positive feedback to the afternoon events being held at the Hall last year so we were delighted to be back there.”

Among the entertainers were Jennie Luke, originally from Lytham and now based in London, and her My Favourite Character team offering stories and plays for youngsters.

There was also a display by the Fylde K9 Dancers dog display team, while through the afternoon on the Hall’s front lawn, Park View4U community team hosted a pond dipping session.

There were children’s sports events, fairground rides and donkeys and Lytham Ecumenical Partnership held a songs of praise-type concert in the marquee from 3.30pm.

In the evening the Toll Bar Band and the Panama Steel Band provided entertainment until 10pm.
