'˜I am pleased to have added two on Saturday'

Swindon's Michael Doughty is aiming to be back on the scoresheet against Blackpool after breaking his duck for Swindon Town last weekend.

The on-loan Queens Park Rangers man got Town’s final two goals as they romped to a 4-1 win away at League One basement boys Colchester United.

They were Doughty’s first goals for the Luke Williams’ side since arriving at the County Ground during the January transfer window – and first for anyone since he hit the back of the net in April 2014 during another loan spell at Stevenage.

The 23-year-old is well aware that becoming more of a goal threat is something he needs to add to his game, although he is not too worried about what his contribution is, as long as it helps Town win.

“It’s something I am conscious of, being a midfielder, you need to contribute to the team offensively. It’s something I have been working on,” Doughty said.

“I haven’t necessarily been prolific in my career thus far and I am pleased just to have added two on Saturday.

“Ultimately, it’s a team game and the fact we got the result and the win; I know it’s a cliché, but that was really the most important thing.”

Having initially signed on a one-month loan deal, Doughty has quickly impressed Town boss Luke Williams, starting all five of the matches he has been available for.

The club have since moved to extend his stay in Wiltshire until the end of the season and Doughty is delighted to know he will have a settled base for the time being.

“I think every player wants clarity on where they are going to be,” added Doughty.

“I have really settled in well and the lads have been fantastic with me, and so have all the support staff and the coaching team as well.

“I am just pleased to be here now and to know what I’m going to be doing, and hopefully contribute to some more successful results.”
