Olympic medallist Dame Mary Peters visits retirement community in Thornton

There was a special visitor to a retirement community in Thornton - Olympic medallist Dame Mary Peters.

Dame Mary, who won the women’s pentathlon gold medal in the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, was invited down to the Burrstone Grange Retirement Living development on Poachers Way as part of an open day to let retirees see the development, where low maintenance apartments are designed for the over 60s.

Dame Mary said: “I was delighted to be invited to Burrstone Grange in Thornton to meet the people here.”
