TWO prison officers have admitted misconduct after a Blackpool man was found hanging in his cell.

Shaun and Lisa Percy pleaded guilty to an offence of misconduct in a public office, which relates to their duties at Preston Prison.

Christopher Oldham, 36, from North Shore, was found hanging in his cell in April last year.

Shaun Percy, 50, admitted failing to do cell checks related to prisoners subject to the assessment, care in custody and teamwork regime.

His wife, also 50, pleaded guilty to a charge that involved her making false entries on HMP Preston assessment, care in custody teamwork documents.

She had denied an original charge of doing acts tended and intended to pervert the course of justice.

Her pleas were accepted at a Preston Crown Court hearing yesterday.

The couple, from Walton-le-Dale, near Preston, have been remanded on bail for sentencing in September.
