The scheme will see the former Action Exhausts building on George Street converted into a daycare centre for up to 24 children aged between two and four.

In approving the application, planners said in their report no objections had been received.

The report adds; “Overall the proposal would result in improvements to the exterior of the building, and bringing the building back into sustainable use would improve the appearance of the wider streetscene.”

In his submission, applicant Stephen Chamberlain said a childcare facility was needed in the neighbourhood following the closure of the nursery at the Brunswick Sure Start Centre last year.
