The venue, on Bristol Avenue, Bispham, got the most votes in our popular competition to take the top gong.

It beat nine other top-notch gyms to scoop the crown and local bragging rights.

Ewan Noblett, leisure manager at Moor Park Health and Leisure Centre, said: “It’s absolutely fantastic to be named as the best gym in Blackpool.” It comes after the gym has undergone significant improvements in recent years.

And members and gymgoers clearly impressed with the transformation.

The gym caters for all degrees of experience and all types of fitness

Ewan added: “A huge amount of work has gone in to improving the leisure centre over the last few years and the feedback that our customers have given us has been excellent.

“The facilities have been so well received since we re-launched four years ago and we have reinvested and extended our fitness studio so it now boasts 65 stations and we have also redeveloped our exercise and spinning studios.

“Some 649 memberships have been sold since the new development opening in January and we’re always keen to attract more people to the try out our top class facilities.

“As well as the 65 station gym, exercise class studios and swimming pool we also have a specialist women only Feel Good Factory too.

“We always knew that people enjoy coming to Moor Park but to be named as Gym of the Year is a great reward for everybody’s hard work.

“If anybody wants to look around our new facilities, or is thinking of signing up as a member, then they can come along to the leisure centre or call (01253) 478474.”

Chris Nate, duty manager at the winning centre, said: “We offer a friendly environment which is conducive to health and fitness for the local community, and it suits peoples everyday needs.

“The gym caters for all degrees of experience and all types of fitness.

Emma Turner, promotions manager at The Gazette, said: “Our Gym of the Year competition was fiercely competitive with all gyms taking part making lots of effort and the voting were close.”
