NEWS UPDATE: Boil water restrictions lifted for more homes

The boil water notice has been lifted for thousands more homes, United Utilities has announced.

Although householders in large swathes of Lancashire are still being advised to boil their drinking water after cryptosporidium contamination was discovered, tonight the restrictions have been further lifted.

Homes in Fulwood, Leyland, parts of Chorley, Bamber Bridge and Lostock Hall are among those whose tap water has now been declared safe.
