The routes, beginning at either Lytham or St Annes stations, have been created by the South Fylde Community Rail Partnership in conjunction with Lytham St Annes Civic Society and local historian Peter Shakeshaft.

Town crier Colin Ballard will be at St Annes station at 10am on Wednesday to launch the first walk, which will be led by Coun Tony Ford, the South Fylde Community Rail Partnership’s chairman.

Two more walks, one based on Lytham’s Town Trail and another involving Ansdell and Fairhaven station, are due to be launched later in the year.

Coun Ford said: “The walks are designed to encourage people to travel by train, enjoy a leisurely walk, and note local places of interest and architectural features, as well as visit the town’s shops cafes and restaurants.”
