Buggy was nursed back to health by staff from World Horse Welfare at Penny Farm, on Preston New Road at Westby, after being abandoned at just a few months old and suffering from terrible maggot-infested wounds on his back.

He spent several days receiving round the clock care from vets when it was touch and go whether he would make it.

In 2017 he was named Equifest Rescue Horse of the Year in recognition of his transformation.

And now his story has had a happy ending after he has been rehomed with a new family in Northumberland.

New owner Linda said: “He is a great companion for our other horses but I think he has such a taste for the limelight that we shall have to continue his in-hand showing career.

“We’re delighted to have been able to give this amazing little pony a home and look forward to seeing what the future brings for Buggy.”
