Around 30 new fire service recruits have started their 13-week training course.

Their gruelling programme got underway yesterday, and squad drills were the first order of the day for the prospective firefighters.

Based at Lancashire Fire and Rescue’s training centre in Euxton near Chorley, they will later be assigned to fire stations across Lancashire, including on the Fylde coast, and will work as full-time fire crews.
