Nature theme for veteran artist’s exhibition

An octogenarian artist, who once designed sets for the Pleasure Beach , has put her works on show in a prestigious exhibition.

Margaret King is guarded about her exact age –but is happy to admit to being an octogenarian, and even happier to have been St Annes born and bred.

The town and particularly its beach are still a vital source of inspiration – and Margaret is delighted to have the opportunity to show her some examples of her work at the Fylde Gallery in Lytham for the first time.

Margaret, whose exhibition continues until October 16, is only the second individual artist to be invited to display their work at the gallery 
above Booths’ store in Haven Road.

The first was the late Stanley Warburton and, as was the case with his exhibition in 2012, Margaret has been invited by the Arts Working Group, which consists of representatives from Fylde Council, Booths, Friends of the Lytham St Annes Art Collection, Civic Society, Fylde Decorative and Fine Arts Society and the Lancashire Museum Service.

“Margaret’s exhibition will be open Tuesdays to Saturdays from noon to 4pm, with admission free. She intends to be in attendance for most of that time and will be happy to chat about her work.

Margaret Race, chairman of the Friends of the Lytham St Annes Art Collection said: “Margaret is wonderful artist who is very proud of her Fylde roots and I am delighted that her work will be on display at the Fylde Gallery for visitors to admire.”
