National honour for Blackpool voice software team

A Blackpool software firm specialising in voice operated systems has picked up a national award.

Voiteq based at the Whitehill business park, has won the 2016 Customer Service Award at the national United Kingdom Warehousing Association annual awards ceremony.

The company was presented with the award at the Dorchester hotel in London, by special guest Nick Hewer from The Apprentice, for demonstrating “an in-depth understanding of customer needs and delivering a consistent customer focused culture within the organisation.”

Voiteq was originally founded by a small team of 11 people, who still work in the business today. After the acquisition of Heald’s Day and Nite stores the team started up what has now become an international business with bases in Chicago in the US , France and Germany.

Voiteq is recognised on a global stage as a provider of voice-directed solutions and now employs over 100 staff based at its head office at Neptune Court.

Its products allow warehouse workers to connect with computerised inventory systems in a hands free, eyes-free way using spoken commands which helps improve productivity.

The worker wears a light-weight headset and belt-worn computer. Using a unique voice-template for each user (trained voice-recognition), the system turns the spoken command back into data for the host-system to process and vice versa; a process known as text-to-speech.
