Beauty queen turned ice queen Kendall Rae-Knight has completed a fund-
raising challenge of skating

1,000 laps of the Pleasure Beach
arena.

The 22-year-old, from Newton, got her skates on in aid of the Variety Club children’s charity.

Her feat on the ice was part of her fund-raising
efforts for the Miss Fylde Coast competition, the final of which takes place tomorrow, at The Sands Venue, in Blackpool.

All finalists in the contest were challenged to raise money for the Variety Club, the
organisers’ chosen charity.

Kendall, who was also previously The Face of the Houndshill, organised a car boot sale at Whyndyke Farm and the sponsored ice skate.

She was cheered on when she did her last 20 laps on Wednesday by her family and friends.

She said: “It took me about two weeks and I had to skate pretty much every day – I just had one day off.

“I started off doing a
couple of hundred laps a day, doing three hour blocks, but as time went on, my legs started to get sore.

“I do really enjoy ice-skating, but this was definitely a challenge. My legs and
ankles are still
aching now!

“It’s a cause really close to my heart as my mum is a foster parent. So the children’s charity means a lot to me.

“I’m really pleased with how it went and have raised £103. I’m grateful to everyone who has donated and to the Pleasure Beach for the use of the arena.”

And Kendall is looking forward to Sunday’s Miss Fylde Coast final, which is being filmed for a Channel 4 documentary programme all about the contest.

“I am excited about it now and just getting my outfits ready and doing the final preparations.

“It’s always a great event.”
