Musical ceremony hits the right note

When Simon Peters and Sharon Morris met at the counter of a building society, little did they know they were meeting their soul mates.The Bispham couple have both had difficult times but the start of the rest of their lives together came on March 31 when they married at the Pavilion on the Prom.Simon, a bus driver for Blackpool Transport was a customer at the building society where Sharon works and it took four months for him to persuade her to go on a date.The proposal came on a night out for New Year’s Eve three year’s ago at the Cube in Poulton.Sharon, 47, said: “It was a surprise but I suspected Simon was drunk and told him to ask me again in the morning.“He woke me up the following day and asked me again and I said yes.“We kept it a secret until Simon’s birthday on January 5. We got the ring, then we told our families. We were very excited and everyone was delighted for us.The cold weather earlier in the month parted for the day and the couple enjoyed some sunshine.Simon’s talented musical family provided beautiful singing during the ceremony.His sister Soozy sang ‘At Last’ as the bride made her entrance and daughter Bethany Peters sand ‘O Solo Mio Bambino’ as they signed the register.“Everything went perfectly with no hitches,” said Sharon, “and the highlights were Soozy and Bethany singing.“It was a very special day as we had both been through difficult times and thought something like this wouldn’t happen to us.Simon, 50, said: “ Although it took a long time I have finally found the right person. We had the most amazing day with our friends and family.”And Sharon added: “I married my best friend and now I get to spend the rest of my life with him.”They live in their dream house which they bought a couple of years ago and between them have five children and one grandson.They honeymooned in Glen Clova, Scotland.
