THE case against a man accused of stabbing a teenager to death was heard at crown court.

David Minto – who appeared via video link from Preston Prison – spoke only to confirm his name and that he could hear proceedings during the brief hearing at Preston Crown Court.

The 22-year-old, from Kirby Road, South Shore, is charged with murdering teenager Sasha Marsden (left).

The Blackpool and the Fylde College student, from Shaftesbury Avenue, Staining, suffered up to 100 stab wounds to her head and face before being set alight following the alleged attack at The Grafton House Hotel, on Kirby Road, on
Thursday evening.

Her burning body was discovered by hoteliers in the alleyway behind the hotel around 9pm that night.

Yesterday, Minto appeared in a green and yellow prison outfit on the video screen, and sat motionless throughout the 10-minute hearing, which outlined the timetable his case will follow.

The next time he will appear before the court will be on April 24, when he will enter a formal plea to the charge against him.

No application was made for bail and Minto, who was raised and educated in Fleetwood, was remanded in custody.
