Mum starts to pack presents for Blackpool’s homeless

A mum who raised over £1,250 so she can buy some of Blackpool’s homeless population a Christmas present has started to spend the money.

Kind-hearted Steph Arnold had originally hoped to raise £600 for 15 young people at the Streetlife Centre in the town centre and 60 older people cared for by The Bridge Project at the Salvation Army in Raikes Parade.

After friends, family, and those moved by her campaign helped her smash her target, the 32-year-old now has to pack hundreds of individual gifts.

The former Baines High School student said: “I’m hoping to have everything bought in time to start wrapping by mid-November as I’m going to have 700 plus gifts to wrap.”

Steph’s shopping list includes USB memory sticks so people can store valuable documents, like CVs, as well as photographs, videos, and music.

Steph, who lives near Stanley Park with her husband and young son, also plans to buy travel mugs, snack bars, chocolate, batteries, sweets, disposable razors and toiletries, torches, draw-string backpacks, and more.
