A mum-of-two has spoken of her shock after coming home to find a metal arrow had smashed through a downstairs window at her home.
Lisa Roberts was out shopping with her two young children when she got a call to say the missile had struck a window in her downstairs toilet.
Police were called to the address on Langdale Road, Mereside, and have since confiscated the bow and arrow after it emerged a neighbour had accidentally mis-fired it during ‘target practice’.
But Lisa, 23, says someone could easily have been badly hurt.
She said: “I got a phone call from my dad to say there was an arrow through the window.
“It had come right through the fence and the window. It was a real shock to see what had happened.
“If my little boy Leon, who is two, had been sitting on the toilet it could have hit him.
“I told my landlord who boarded it up and repaired it.”
The incident happened some time between 1.30pm and 4.30pm on Tuesday.
No-one was in the house at the time and police said the incident had been dealt with after officers spoke to the owner of the bow and arrow, who has paid for the damage.
A spokeswoman for Blackpool Police said: “A neighbour has accidentally, while doing target practice in his back garden, missed his target and the arrow has gone through the fence and damaged a side toilet window on the house.
“This man has apologised, surrendered his bow and arrow to the police and paid for the damage.”
