This Blackpool mum-of-two turned her life around and shed 5st – just by using a different plate!
Louise Pope had battled with her weight since she first got pregnant at the age of 18 and tried every diet and weight-loss club around, but would always end up piling the pounds back on.
Over the years, she says the collapse of her marriage to the father of her daughters and various ‘disastrous’ relationships, caused her weight to get out of control and she tipped the scales at 16st 12lbs.
But two years ago, she decided to take action and has not looked back since.
Louise, of Bispham, made her transformation to a svelte size 10/12 from a size 22 with a product which cost just £21.99, the Diet Plate, all about “portion control made easy”.
Lines on the plate indicate portion sizes and the portions on the plate are designed to reflect different food groups, such as starchy carbohydrates or protein and deliver a specific calorie counted amount of food.
The female plate delivers between 1,200 and 1,500 calories per day depending on the recipe and the male version 1,500 to 1,900 calories.
The 39-year-old said: “As a child, I was always skinny. I do think some of the seeds which caused my overeating were sown during my childhood though and my figure never really recovered from pregnancy.
“I tried every diet and weight loss club around and they worked for a while, but as soon as I stopped, I put it all back on and more besides.
“After my divorce, I lurched from one disastrous relationship to another and had to change jobs due to being bullied. All these things caused me to pile on the pounds.
“In 2010, I met a chap on the internet and started dating. He had a serious weight problem too.
“One weekend he polished off a 24 pack of Walkers crisps in two days. I didn’t try to keep up, but the weight piled on.”
It was in April 2011, Louise – who works for the Citizens Advice Bureau – decided she needed to take firm action after going shopping with her daughters and struggling to find nice clothes in her size.
“I looked at what foods I enjoyed eating and decided my biggest problem was not what I was eating (I love salads and veg), it was quantities. I needed help with portion control.
“I looked online and saw The Diet Plate. I have found using it really easy – no weighing or measuring.
“I have not felt this good in a long time. I am still getting used to the compliments I keep receiving.”
