MOTORISTS faced traffic delays in Blackpool town centre after a crash partially blocked a major route used by parents on the school run.

A motorcyclist had to be taken to hospital after the collision with a car on Central Drive.

Paramedics and police were called to the scene close to the junction with Palatine Road after the Honda bike was in collision with a Vauxhall Insignia at 2.40pm yesterday.

The biker and driver of the car both suffered minor injuries, but only the motorcyclist was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital.

Other motorists avoided the scene and sought alternative routes while debris was cleared from the road.

The road was fully open shortly after the incident.
