A road collision in Fleetwood involving a car and a motorcycle left two people needing hospital treatment today.
At one stage there were fears the motorcycle rider was trapped under the wheels of the car, but that turned out not to be the case.
The incident, which occurred on Poulton Road at 1.50pm, involved a cream and black Renault five door saloon and a Honda CBR 500 motorcycle.
Police, ambulance and fire services were called to the scene, but the fire engine was turned back when it became clear no one was trapped.
Although two people were taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital, it is understood their injuries were not believed to be critical.
Sgt Dan Whittaker, of Fleetwood Police, said: “We got a call that someone was trapped but as it turned out, that wasn’t the case and the injuries were relatively minor.”
However, initially the incident looked much more serious.
Fleetwood resident John Warnock, who was passing the scene several minutes after the collision, said: “The accident seem to have happened just in front of the old Barney’s Bingo and it looked serious.
“It appeared that someone was caught underneath the car.”
Part of Poulton Road was still blocked off until 3.40pm as police sought to clear the road of the two damaged vehicles. It is now back in use.
